20 Fun Classroom Math Games for 3rd Grade Students

March 3, 2025

Let’s talk about math time in the classroom. If you’ve ever been met with groans, glazed-over eyes, or the infamous “When will we ever use this?” question, you’re not alone. It can be challenging to keep student engagement and interest high while teaching complex math concepts.

Games provide hands-on learning experiences, reinforce math concepts, and keep students actively engaged without them even realizing they’re doing math. Plus, when students are having fun, they retain information better—win-win!

I’ve rounded up 20 fun and engaging math games that will get your students excited about learning. These aren’t just any games—they’re teacher-approved, easy to implement, and designed to make learning fun. Best of all, they’re all printable! You can use them with your 3rd graders as soon as tomorrow!

This game helps reinforce telling time skills and is an excellent way to review or practice time throughout the year. Since students are already familiar with Connect 4, they’ll be excited to play and eager to get their turn, making even challenging elapsed time problems feel like a game rather than a worksheet.
