About

Hi, I’m Yari Aguilu!

Welcome to my happy place! I’m Yari– momma, wife, resource creator, and former elementary teacher. I was born and raised in sunny South Florida and wouldn’t trade it for the world! I spent eight years in the elementary classroom teaching second, third, and fourth grade. Additionally, I dipped my feet into an instructional coach position for a year.

In 2020, I got pregnant with my daughter and was dealing with the ongoing stress of teaching virtually through a pandemic. After finishing up that school year, I made a big decision to transition into a full-time TPT author and stay-at-home mom.

I miss the classroom every day. But because of this amazing teacher community, I am still able to have a piece of myself in the classroom. Seeing my resources, decor, and ideas being used in your classrooms lights me up. It is the most fulfilling thing to know that I am still able to make a tiny bit of a difference in the education world, even if I’m not physically there.

Thank you for supporting me, my family, and my small business.

How was ‘Sweet Tooth Teaching’ Started?

During my first year of teaching, I noticed a lack of engaging resources within our curriculum. My students needed fun, hands-on activities to reinforce our content. I found myself constantly creating my own resources to benefit my fourth graders at the time. In 2013, I decided to open the ‘Sweet Tooth Teaching’ shop on Teachers Pay Teachers to share activities with other teachers around the world.

Today, Sweet Tooth Teaching resources have impacted over 70,000 classrooms!

The mission behind Sweet Tooth Teaching is to create resources that will spark magic in your classroom (or home) and ignite a genuine excitement for learning. I believe that having fun while learning rigorous content is achievable (and necessary!) for our students.

Teachers and students spend countless hours in the classroom. Therefore, an organized and welcoming environment is crucial to student success. Sweet Tooth Teaching also specifies in creating classroom decor and organizational tools. The goal is to help teachers create a positive and peaceful learning environment for students.

This little corner of the internet dedicated to sharing strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to simplify a teacher’s life and engage learners. I also share a bit of lifestyle and motherhood with you all! Check out the blog posts here.

I love connecting with other educators and mommas! Feel free to reach out at Yari.Aguilu@SweetToothTeaching.com if you have any questions or suggestions. You can also follow me on social media @SweetToothTeaching for more ideas.
